PAUL GAUGUIN (1848-1903)Born in Paris in 1848, Paul Gauguin spent a period in the Navy, starting in 1965, before working for a Paris broker. He only began painting in 1873, becoming interested in the Impressionists whose works he collected. In 1886 he moved to Pont Aven, but in 1891, in search of more exotic subjects, he left for Tahiti. He died in the Marquesas Islands in 1903.
